Game 1
Michigan played at Texas Tech on March 21-23 and the Red Raiders swept the three-game series by the scores of 11-2, 12-3 and 8-5.
Texas Tech should not give up hope for winning its first national title. Oregon State lost Game 1 of the 2018 College World Series to North Carolina 8-6. The Beavers won four straight games to reach the championship series and took two of three from Arkansas to claim their third national title.
UM was making its first appearance in the College World Series since 1984. The Wolverines recorded their first CWS victory since June 8, 1983, a 3-1 win over Stanford.
Michigan is 40-1 when leading after eight innings. The Wolverines are 22-6 when scoring in the first inning. UM is 36-6 when scoring first, which ranked No. 10 in the nation in Division I.
Game 2
Florida State is 5-3 this season against SEC opponents. The Seminoles lost three times to Florida during the regular season. FSU has won five straight meeting with SEC foes during the NCAA Tournament. The Seminoles won twice at Georgia in the Athens Regional, 12-3 and 10-1. FSU was victorious twice at LSU in the Baton Rouge Super Regional, 6-4 and 5-4 in 12 innings. The win over Arkansas in the College World Series was win No. 5.
The Seminoles won their CWS opener for the first time since 1999.
Florida State and Mississippi State are the only two remaining teams to be undefeated in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
The Razorbacks were blanked for the just the second time this season. On March 23, Alabama shut out Arkansas 10-0 in Tuscaloosa.
Arkansas went 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position vs. FSU.
Arkansas had been 5-0 all-time against FSU before Saturday’s 1-0 loss.
The Razorbacks have not scored in their past 22 innings at the College World Series.
