Freshman Kevin Abel tossed a two-hit shutout and ended the game by retiring the final 20 batters as OSU blanked Arkansas to win its third national title and first since 2007. Abel (8-1) walked two and struck out 10 for the Beavers (55-12-1). The Razorbacks (48-21) were shut out for the first time this season. OSU started the scoring in the first. Cadyn Grenier was hit by a pitch with one away in the bottom of the first and moved to third on a single by Trevor Larnach. A base hit by CWS Most Outstanding Player Adley Rutschman (3 for 4, 2 RBI) knocked in Grenier and Larnach scored on an error to give the Beavers a 2-0 lead. Grenier walked and scored on a single by Rutschman as OSU expanded its advantage to 3-0. In the fifth, Rutschman singled and came home on a sacrifice fly by Michael Gretler to push it to 4-0. The Beavers added an insurance run in the eighth at Gretler drew a leadoff walk and scored on a base hit by Zak Taylor (2 for 3) to make the final 5-0. Casey Martin had a single and Grant Koch doubled for Arkansas.
