After taking two of three against No. 9 Louisville, the ACC coaches’ pick to win the league’s Coastal Division, Connecticut has been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com National Team of the Week for games played the opening weekend of the 2019 season.

The Huskies, picked to finish third in the American Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll, posted wins in the first and third game of the neutral-site series.

Regional Teams of the Week

  • Northeast – Richmond went 3-0 on its trip to Atlanta, outlasting Hunter Gaddis and Georgia State, topping Georgia Tech and edging Kennesaw State.
  • Southeast – Coastal Carolina welcomed VCU, Maryland and Campbell and walked away with three wins.
  • Central – TCU went 2-1 in the MLB4 Tournament, beating Virginia and second-ranked Vanderbilt and losing to Cal State Fullerton.
  • West – UCLA hosted St. John’s and outscored the Red Storm 23-3 in three wins.

Honor Roll

  • George Mason went 3-0 in Florida against Iowa, Marshall and Villanova.
  • Tennessee went 3-0 at home against Appalachian State and didn’t allow a run.
  • New Jersey Tech went 3-0-1 against Eastern Michigan in Hoover, Ala.
  • Louisiana Tech went 3-0 on the road at Southeastern Louisiana.
  • High Point took two of three on the road against Old Dominion.
  • Vanderbilt went 2-1 at the MLB4 Tournament, beating Virginia and Cal State Fullerton and losing to TCU.
  • Cal State Fullerton went 2-1 at the MLB4 Tournament, beating Virginia and TCU and losing to Vanderbilt.
  • Arizona State went 3-0 against Notre Dame, outscoring the Irish 46-13.
  • St. Mary’s went 4-0 against Washington State.
  • Milwaukee went 3-0 with wins in Florida over Marshall, Villanova and Pitt.
  • Southern Miss went 3-0 against Purdue.
  • Ohio State went 3-0 against Seton Hall in Florida.
  • UC Irvine took two of three from Washington.
