No. 3 Texas A&M 5, Texas 4

In College Station, Texas, Michael Barash hit a game-winning homer in the bottom of the ninth inning after Texas scored four times in the top half to tie the game as Texas A&M edged the Longhorns. Koby Clemens had a two-run double, and Bret Boswell contributed a two-run single as Texas rallied for four runs to tie the game in the ninth. Brigham Hill tossed seven scoreless innings for the Aggies (16-1) but didn’t figure in the decision. The Longhorns fell to 7-10.

No. 1 Florida 6, No. 11 Florida State 0

In Gainesville, Fla., Dane Dunning tossed 5.2 scoreless innings, and Peter Alonso homered and drove in two runs as Florida topped Florida State. Dunning (2-0) allowed seven hits and struck out five before Jackson Kowar (2 IP, 3 K), Kirby Snead and Shaun Anderson completed the shutout. JJ Schwarz went 3 for 5 with a run and RBI, and Nelson Maldonado hit a solo homer for the Gators (18-1), who have won 12 in a row. John Sansone went 2 for 4 for the Seminoles (13-4).

 

No. 4 Louisville 11, Xavier 1

In Louisville, Ky., Nick Solak went 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBI as Louisville thumped Xavier. Corey Ray had two hits and two RBI, while Devin Hairston went 1 for 2 with three runs and two RBI for the Cardinals (14-2), who scored five in the fourth and four in the seventh. Sam Bordner (1-0) earned the win in relief, going 3.0 hitless innings with one walk and five strikeouts. Joe Gellenbeck went 1 for 3 with a double and one RBI for the Musketeers (3-12).

No. 7 TCU 6, Rice 4

In Houston, TCU scored twice in the ninth to rally from a 4-1, eighth-inning deficit in beating Rice. Elliott Barzilli had a run-scoring double before Ryan Merrill plated another run in the eighth with a grounder. Dane Steinhagen then tied the game with a single to left. In the ninth, the Horned Frogs (13-3) took the lead on a throwing error on the back end of a double play, and Barzilli plated another run with a shot to shortstop, allowing Josh Watson to score despite a drawn-in infield. Charlie Warren had two RBI for the Owls.

No. 9 North Carolina 17, East Carolina 4

In Greenville, N.C., Tyler Lynn and Tyler Ramirez both homered in an eight-run second as UNC overwhelmed ECU. Ramirez went 2 for 3 with two runs and three RBI, while Adam Pate drove in four for the Tar Heels (13-2). Charlie Yorgen had three hits and two runs, while Kirk Morgan added two hits and two RBI for the Pirates (11-6).

No. 13 Virginia 4, Towson 3

In Charlottesville, Va., Adam Haseley went 1 for 3 with two walks and one RBI while picking up the win on the mound as Virginia edged Towson. Haseley (4-0) allowed six hits and two unearned runs with two walks and four strikeouts. Alec Bettinger (1.1 IP, 2 H, R, BB, 2 K) recorded his fifth save. Daniel Pinero went 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI for the Cavaliers (12-5). Richie Palacios went 2 for 4 with one RBI for the Tigers (3-11).

Eastern Kentucky 16, No. 14 Mississippi State 12 (10 innings)

In Starkville, Miss., Kyle Nowlin homered and drove in three runs, and Shea Sullivan added three RBI, including a two-run double that tied the game in the eighth inning, as Eastern Kentucky scored the game’s final 10 runs to rally from a 12-6 deficit. The win was the first for the Colonels (8-8) over a ranked team since March 3, 2009 according to a school release. Nathaniel Lowe had three hits, including a homer, and seven RBI for the Bulldogs (12-4-1).
