Team of the Week
After posting a perfect 4-0 week, Arkansas State has been named
CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The Indians won 7-5 at third-ranked Ole Miss on Wednesday,
handing the Rebels their first loss of the season. ASU swept a three-game
conference series at Louisiana-Lafayette, the preseason favorite in the Sun
Belt. The Indians won 3-0 and 9-5 on Saturday before a 9-2 finale on Sunday to
raise their overall record to 8-4.
Honorable mention goes to TCU, which went 4-1 with wins over
Texas-Arlington and Texas State before winning two of three at Ole Miss. Arizona
went 5-0 with two wins over UNLV and three shutouts at the Whataburger Classic
(South Alabama, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Notre Dame), outscoring the trio 37-0.
Wake Forest went 3-1 with a victory over UNC Greensboro and two of three ACC
wins against nationally-ranked Clemson. NC State went 4-1 with wins over
Valparaiso and North Carolina A&T and two of three ACC wins against
nationally-ranked and previously unbeaten Virginia. Stanford rebounded from a
loss at California to win two of three at nationally-ranked Texas. Dallas
Baptist went 5-0 with wins over nationally-ranked Rice and Oral Roberts and a
3-0 mark at the Texas-Arlington Tournament. Princeton went 3-0 at Richmond, the
preseason No. 2 pick in the Atlantic 10. Oklahoma went 7-0 with three wins over
North Dakota State and a four-game sweep of Western Illinois. Stony Brook won
two of three at Southeastern Louisiana.
