Joey Haug (Holt, Mo.)
Coastal Carolina senior pitcher
Haug contributed to all three Chanticleer victories last week
with a win and two saves. He pitched the final 3.2 innings in a 5-1 win against
The Citadel with three strikeouts. He fanned 10 in 5.1 innings at Liberty on
Friday to earn an extra-inning win. Haug pitched the final inning of Sunday’s
win over the Flames to earn his second save of the week.
Regional Players of the Week
Northeast
Justin Bour (Centreville, Va.)
George Mason sophomore first baseman
Bour batted .538 (14-26) in six home games last week with three
homers, six runs and 13 RBI. He started his week with four hits against
Maryland. Bour had two homers and drove in seven in a win over Liberty. In a three-game set with Old Dominion, he had
five hits with a homer, three runs and six RBI.
Southeast
Brandon McClurg (Hendersonville, Tenn.)
Lipscomb junior pitcher
McClurg tossed a no-hitter on Saturday against Kennesaw State in
an Atlantic Sun contest. McClurg struck out a season-high 10. He needed 113
pitches to record the first no-no in the Atlantic Sun in two years. McClurg won
his third straight start, with 28 strikeouts in 23 innings with a 0.78 ERA.
Central
Nick Kirk (Dubuque, Iowa)
Northern Iowa junior pitcher
Kirk threw the program’s first Division I no-hitter on Friday
against Evansville in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for the Panthers.
Kirk allowed two base-runners, one reaching on a walk and one on an error. Kirk
struck out 15, including eight straight from the first through third innings.
West
Josh Romanski (Corona, Calif.)
San Diego junior pitcher
Romanski registered a no-hitter last Monday against visiting
Harvard. The left-hander allowed one base-runner in the contest when he hit a
batter in the fifth. Romanski struck out eight, a season high, in the 12-0
victory. Romanski also homered in the seventh to complete the scoring for the
Toreros.
West
Alan Ahmady (Fresno, Calif.)
Fresno State sophomore first baseman
Ahmady batted .583 in six games with 14 hits, eight runs, six
doubles, three homers and 14 RBI in a 5-1 week for the Bulldogs. In a four-game
WAC series against Nevada, Ahmady hit .600 with three home runs and 10 RBI as
Fresno State took three of four from the Wolf Pack.
