Arizona State claims top spot in CBI Composite
Poll
Arizona falls to second, Ole Miss is
third, North Carolina is fourth
By sitting on top of two of the four national
polls,
Arizona State is No. 1
in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.
Brett
Wallace (pictured right) and the Sun Devils won three games in the DeMarini
Invitational this past weekend, including victories over nationally-ranked
Vanderbilt and Oregon State. ASU is first in the Collegiate Baseball
poll and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll. The Sun
Devils are sixth in the Baseball America poll. The USA Today/ESPN
Coaches poll was not yet updated from its preseason rankings.
Fellow Pac-10 member Arizona (2-1) holds the top spot in the
Baseball America poll after taking two of three at Georgia. Ole Miss
(3-0) manhandled Minnesota in a three-game set and climbs to No. 3. North
Carolina (3-0) recorded three wins at Florida Atlantic, including a pair of
come-from-behind victories, and falls to No. 4. South Carolina (2-1) took two
of three at home from East Carolina and comes in at No. 5.
Michigan (3-0) took three from Villanova
and climbs from 14th to eighth. Long Beach State (2-1) won two of three from
Rice and checks in at No. 10, one spot ahead of the Owls.
San Diego (1-2) lost two of three to San
Diego State and falls from No. 8 to No. 18.
