No. 5 North Carolina (53-12-1) vs. Oklahoma (41-22)
- OU owns a 3-2 all-time record against UNC and all five meetings have come in the NCAA Tournament. In the 2010 Norman Regional, the Sooners defeated the Tar Heels 7-6 in 10 innings in their first meeting and 3-2 in their second for OU to advance to the Super Regionals. In the 2025 Chapel Hill Regional, the Tar Heels won the first meeting 11-5. The Sooners took the second 9-5 before UNC won the final encounter 14-4 to win the regional title.
- UNC and OU have had one common opponent this season: Georgia Tech. The Tar Heels went 2-2 against the Yellow Jackets. UNC won two of three in Chapel Hill during the regular season before Georgia Tech won in the championship game of the ACC Tournament. The Sooners took two of three from the second-seeded Yellow Jackets in the Atlanta Regional.
- The Tar Heels are the only team to reach the College World Series in two of the past three seasons.
- UNC is making its 13th CWS appearance and seeking its first national championship. The Tar Heels are making their third appearance in the CWS Championship. UNC lost two of three to Oregon State in 2006 and lost twice to the Beavers in 2007.
- OU is making its 12th CWS appearance. The Sooners have won two national titles. OU defeated Tennessee 3-2 in 1951 and topped Georgia Tech 13-5 in 1994. This is the second CWS Championship Series appearance for OU. The Sooners lost twice to Ole Miss in 2022.
- UNC would become the third ACC team to win a national championship. Wake Forest won in 1955 and Virginia won in 2015.
- The SEC has won 17 national titles and all have come since 1990. Each of the past six national champs have been from the SEC: LSU in 2025 & 2023, Tennessee in 2024, Ole Miss in 2022, Mississippi State in 2021, Vanderbilt in 2019.
- UNC has faced just one national seed in the 2026 NCAA tourney. The Tar Heels defeated No. 16 West Virginia twice in the CWS.
- OU has won eight straight games since losing to Georgia Tech in the second round of the Atlanta Regional. The past seven victories have come against national seeds: 2-0 vs. No. 2 Georgia Tech in the Atlanta Regional, 2-0 vs. No. 15 Kansas in the Lawrence Super Regional. 1-0 vs. No. 7 Alabama in the CWS, 2-0 vs. No. 3 Georgia in the CWS. Since seeding began in 1999, the only teams with more than seven wins over national seeds are 2016 champ Coastal Carolina (8) and 2008 champion Fresno State (8).
- UNC finished second in the ACC standings. OU finished 11th in the SEC standings.
- Oklahoma has not trailed in the CWS this season. UNC trailed Ole Miss 1-0 in the third and 2-1 in the seventh in their first game. The Tar Heels did not trail in their two contests with West Virginia.
