Jacob Johnson snapped a 2-2 deadlock with a homer in the top of the ninth, his second long ball of the game, as SMC edged UCLA on Friday. Johnson finished with three hits. Cam Staton (4-3) tossed two scoreless innings with one hit, one walk and three strikeouts to notch the victory for the Gaels (35-25). Roman Martin went deep for the Bruins (51-7), who became the first overall No. 1 seed to lose its first game in a regional.

Casey Murray Jr. went 4 for 5 with two RBI as Cal Poly defeated VT. Murray Jr. had an RBI single in the fourth to put the Mustangs (37-22) up 4-1, and his run-scoring single in the sixth made it 6-1. Dante Vachini was 3 for 4 with a double, one run and one RBI for the victors. Griffin Naess (8-4, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB) fanned nine in 7.0 innings to record the win. Pete Daniel was 2 for 3 with a double, a walk and one run for the Hokies (30-25).

Athens Regional

Jordan Jaffe had an RBI groundout to tie the game in the top of the ninth and Jaxon Sorenson knocked in the game-winner with a fielder’s choice to short later in the frame as LU edged BC. Sorenson finished with two hits and two RBI for the Flames (42-19). Julio Solier went deep in the fifth and seventh to tie the game at 2-2 before Jack Toomey homered in the eighth for a 3-2 lead for the Eagles (36-22).

Atlanta Regional

Alex Hernandez belted three homers and knocked in nine as GT used seven home runs to power past UIC. The Yellow Jackets (49-9) erased a 2-0 deficit with three in the second, five in the third and put it away with nine in the fourth. Will Baker had three hits, including a double, walked twice and had four RBI for GT. Will Flanigan went deep twice and drove in three for the Flames (27-28-1).

Auburn Regional

Braydn Horn hit a first-inning, three-run homer, and Charlie Marion added a three-run blast of his own as Milwaukee built a 10-0 through the top of the fourth and held on to stun Auburn, the fourth national seed. Marion finished 2 for 5 with two runs and four RBI, and Grant Ross and Joey Spence each added three hits, a run and an RBI for the Panthers, who started the year 5-23 and entered the tourney with an RPI of 238. Milwaukee roughed up Auburn starter Jake Marciano, who entered with an ERA of 2.64 over 81 innings, for six runs in 1-plus innings. Gavin Theis tossed four innings with three earned runs for the Panthers (26-31). Ethin Bingaman had a three-run homer, and Eric Guevara homered and drove in four as the Tigers (38-20) closed to 12-7 in the bottom of the seventh but would get no closer.

Austin Regional

Anthony Pack Jr. went 3 for 3 with three home runs, four runs and five RBI, and Aiden Robbins went 2 for 5 with two homers, three runs and three RBI as Texas scored in every inning in a rout of Holy Cross. Jayden Duplantier replaced Pack in the lineup and added a grand slam as the pair combined to go 4 for 5 with four homers, five runs and nine RBI from the 3-hole. Luke Harrison was sharp, allowing two hits and striking out seven on just 50 pitches over four innings for the Longhorns (41-13). John LaFleur went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Crusaders (25-29).

Sergio Guerra homered twice and knocked in three as Tarleton State won its first NCAA tourney game in Division I, beating UCSB. Guerra’s two-run shot in the fourth snapped a 1-1 tie and his solo shot in the sixth gave the Texans (38-19) a 6-2 advantage. Cage McCloud went 2 for 4 with a double, a homer and four RBI for TSU. William Vasseur and Jonathan Mendez each homered and knocked in two for the Gauchos (38-19).

Chapel Hill Regional

Ryan Lynch tossed seven scoreless innings as UNC blanked VCU. Lynch (5-4) gave up two hits and walked four while fanning five. Cooper Nicholson went 3 for 5 with a homer and two RBI, while Erik Paulsen had two hits, including a double, and three RBI for the Tar Heels (46-11-1). Jacob Lee went 1 for 3 with a walk for the Rams (37-24).

Walker Barron homered to spark a four-run rally in the top of the 14th as ECU outlasted UT. Colby Wallace added a two-run double in the 14th for the Pirates (37-22-1). Davin Whitaker went deep in the top of the ninth to give ECU a 2-1 lead before Henry Ford homered in the bottom of the frame for the Vols (38-21) to force extra innings. After the Pirates went up 3-2 in the top of the 13th, Blake Grimmer (2 for 6, HR, 2 RBI) delivered a run-scoring single in the bottom of the frame.

College Station Regional

Texas A&M erased a 5-0 deficit by putting up crooked numbers in three of their final four at-bats in defeating Lamar. A.J. Taylor had an RBI single in the first and a run-scoring double in the second, while Braden Benton and Kevin Duran homered in the fourth as the Cardinals (34-26) led 5-0 after four. Gavin Grahovac went deep and Chris Hacopian smacked a two-run dinger in the seventh for the Aggies (40-14). Nico Partida drew a bases-loaded walk and Bear Harrison tied it with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Ben Royo put TAMU on top in the eighth on an error and Hacopian delivered a sacrifice fly to make it 7-5.

Chase Mora smacked a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to erase a 4-3 deficit as TSU nipped USC. Mora had a sacrifice fly in the second to start the scoring before the Trojans (43-16) tallied single runs in the second, third and fourth for a 3-1 edge. Brady Boles belted a two-run dinger in the fifth for the Bobcats (37-24) to level the score at 3-3. Adrian Lopez went deep in the bottom of the eighth to give USC a 4-3 lead.

Eugene Regional

Washington State, making its first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2010, made an impressive return, thanks in large part to a complete-game gem from Nick Lewis. Lewis (10-2), a sophomore who was named the Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Year, allowed six hits and two earned runs. The Cougars (31-26) trailed 2-1 before scoring one in the sixth and one in the eighth, the latter a Dustin Robinson double down the right-field line to score Max Hartman (2 for 4, 2 R). Max Priest added two hits and an RBI for WSU. Ethan Kleinschmit turned in a solid performance for the Beavers (43-13) with 5.2 innings, two hits, two runs (one earned) and nine strikeouts.

Angel Laya went 4 for 5 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI as Oregon handled Yale. The Ducks (41-16) built a 6-0 lead after five before putting the game away with eight in the eighth. Brayden Jaksa was 3 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI, while Naulivou Lauaki homered and knocked in four for UO. Brady Ruiz-weiss (2 for 4) hit a two-run homer in the sixth for the Bulldogs (31-14-1).

Gainesville Regional

Brendan Lawson had a leadoff homer in the bottom of the ninth as UF edged Rider.  Anthony Paskell had a grand slam in the eighth to level the score at 4-4 and Nick Shuhet added a two-run dinger to give the Broncs (33-19) a 6-4 lead. Caden McDonald went deep in the bottom of the frame and Cade Kurland added a two-run homer as the Gators (40-19) went up 7-6. Matt Leahy went deep in the top of the ninth as Rider tied it at 7-7.

Max Galvin delivered an RBI double to snap a 5-5 tie and spark a five-run eighth as Miami topped Troy. Derek Williams went 2 for 3 with a homer, two walks, three runs and three RBI for the Hurricanes (39-18). Drew Nelson homered and knocked in two, while Blake Cavill doubled twice and had two RBI for the Trojans (32-30).

Hattiesburg Regional

Blake Simpson smacked a two-run homer to cap a four-run ninth as Little Rocksaint downed Southern Miss. Simpson was a triple short of the cycle with three runs and two RBI, while Nolan Freund had three hits and knocked in a pair for the Trojans (37-26). Joey Urban, Davis Gillespie and Kyle Morrison all went deep for the Golden Eagles (44-16).

Cooper Blauser belted a two-run homer in the second to start the scoring and Trey Majette had a two-run triple to highlight a five-run fifth as the lead grew to 9-0 in JSU’s win over UVA. Caleb Johnson went 3 for 6 with three runs and three RBI for the Gamecocks (47-13). Joe Tiroly was a triple short of the cycle with two runs and four RBI for the Cavaliers (36-22).

Lawrence Regional

Tyson Leblanc had two hits, including a homer, and drove in two as Kansas downed NU. Dominic Voegele (6-3, 7 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 BB) fanned nine in earning the win, while Boede Rahe retired the six batters he faced with three punchouts to record his 10th save for the Jayhawks (43-16). Ryan Gerety had three hits, including a triple, and scored once for the Huskies (38-21).

Maika Niu went 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles and four RBI as Arkansas erased an early 3-0 deficit to defeat MSU. Niu had an RBI double and scored in a six-run fifth for the Razorbacks (40-20). Bryce Cermenelli (3 for 3, 2 R, 2 BB) homered for the Bears (34-20).

Lincoln Regional

Dylan Carey and Jett Buck each hit solo homers in the bottom of the eighth inning as Nebraska slipped past South Dakota State. Leading 2-1, Carey (3 for 3) hit a two-strike homer to give the Huskers (43-15) a little breathing room. Carson Jasa (10-2) yielded five hits and one earned run and struck out eight, and J’Shawn Unger struck out four over 2.1 scoreless innings to close out the Jackrabbits (24-32). Nate Wachter and Dayton Franke each had two hits for South Dakota State.

Brayden Randle delivered a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 14th as Ole Miss edged ASU. Tristan Bissetta had a two-run homer in the third and Dom Decker’s RBI single in the fourth gave the Rebels (37-21) a 6-3 lead. Dean Toigo launched a homer in the fifth for the Sun Devils (37-20) and a two-run dinger by Nu’u Contrades in the seventh, his second long ball of the contest, tied the game at 6-6. Hudson Calhoun (4-3, 3.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K) earned the victory.

Morgantown Regional
#1 West Virginia vs. #4 Binghamton (box score)

West Virginia parlayed a pair of fives – five-run innings in the fourth and sixth innings – to ease past Binghamton. Matthew Graveline ripped a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to give the Mountaineers (40-14) a 2-1 lead. Late in the frame, Ben Lumsden (2 for 2, 2 R, 3 RBI) contributed a three-run homer. In the sixth, Gavin Kelly doubled in two before Armani Guzman (2 for 4) doubled in three. That was more than enough for Chansen Cole (9-1), who tossed six innings with four hits, one earned run and 10 strikeouts. Zachary Anderson drove in the lone run for the Bearcats (31-21).

Jayce Tharnish singled and scored on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth to snap a 5-5 tie and lift UK past WFU. Braxton VanCleve doubled and knocked in two for the Wildcats (32-21). Jackson Soude retired the side in order in the bottom of the ninth to record his ninth save. Dalton Wentz was a triple short of the cycle with two runs for the Demon Deacons (38-20).

Starkville Regional
#1 Mississippi State 10, #4 Lipscomb 1 (box score)
#2 Cincinnati 12, #2 Louisiana 2 (box score)

Jacob Parker went 2 for 4 with a homer, three runs and three RBI, and Vytas Valincius added three hits with a run and two RBI as Mississippi State cruised past Lipscomb. Duke Stone (7-3) was brilliant for the Bulldogs (41-17), working six scoreless innings with three hits and 10 strikeouts. Cam Pruitt led the Bisons (29-25) with two hits and a run.

Jack Natili had three of UC’s six home runs in its win over Louisiana. Natili was 4 for 5 with four runs and five RBI for the Bearcats (38-20). Nathan Taylor (7-3, 2 H, 4 BB, 3 K) allowed one unearned run in six innings in recording the win. Colt Brown went 1 for 3 with a walk for the Ragin’ Cajuns (39-24).

Tallahassee Regional
#4 St. John’s 6, #1 Florida State 5 (box score)

Jayder Raifstanger tied the game by scoring on a passed ball in the eighth and delivered an RBI single in the top of the ninth to snap a 5-5 deadlock as St. John’s rallied past FSU. Dylan Fitzsimmons was a triple short of the cycle with two runs for the Red Storm (34-24). Brayden Dowd went 3 for 3 with two walks and two RBI for the Seminoles (38-18).

Marcus Romero and Caden Robertson had two-run singles to highlight an eight-run fourth as NIU outscored CCU to record the program’s first NCAA tourney win. That eight-run outburst gave the Huskies (36-17) a 10-4 advantage. The Chanticleers (37-22) pulled within three before Nolan Sande (2 for 2, 4 RBI) delivered a two-run double in the top of the ninth for NIU. Dean Mihos had a three-run dinger in the bottom of the ninth to make the final 12-10.

Tuscaloosa Regional
#1 Alabama 21, #4 Alabama State 3 (box score)
#3 USC Upstate 8, #2 Oklahoma State 5 (box score)

Bryce Fowler was a double short of the cycle with four runs and three RBI as Alabama bounced ASU. The Crimson Tide (38-19) extended a 3-2 lead with six in the fourth and added three in the fifth, six in the sixth and three more in the seventh. Tyler Fay (10-4, 6 H, 3 R, 1 BB) fanned eight in 5.2 innings in registering the win. Miguel Oropeza (2 for 3, 2 RBI) and Trey Callaway (2 for 4) both went deep for the Hornets (34-22).

Maloy Heaghney went 2 for 4 with two runs, and Preston Lucas contributed two RBI as USC Upstate knocked off Oklahoma State, earning the first NCAA tourney win in school history. The Spartans (34-28) got off to a good start thanks to three straight walks, a wild pitch and a passed ball, giving them a 2-0 lead to start the game. Another walk and a double-play groundout made it 3-0 in the first inning. The Cowboys (37-21) rebounded quickly, with Remo Indomenico’s three-run homer tying the game at 4 in the second inning. Leading 6-5 in the top of the eighth, Lucas delivered a two-run single to spur the Spartans. Max Bianchini turned in three scoreless innings with two hits, and Jacob Kirby added a scoreless inning to close out the Cowboys.
