In Los Angeles, Payton Brennan went 3 for 4 with a homer, a walk, two runs and three RBI as UCLA edged USC to secure a Big Ten series win and extend its win streak to 22. Brennan had a solo homer in the third and a two-run single in the sixth that gave the Bruins (14-0, 28-2) an 8-7 lead. The Trojans (10-4, 27-5) tied it in the top of the eighth before Brennan drew a walk and Levu scored on a wild pitch to put UCLA up 9-8. Ty Mainolfi had a bases-clearing double to spark a six-run fifth as the Eagles (9-6, 22-11) took a 7-3 advantage before the Tar Heels (11-4, 27-5-1) tallied two in the sixth and three in the seventh. Macon Winslow had two doubles with two runs and two RBI for UNC. Walker McDuffie tossed two scoreless frames with one hit and two strikeouts to record his second save.
