Anthony Eyanson and Chase Shores combined to hold No. 13 Coastal Carolina to three runs as No. 6 LSU posted a 5-3 victory to capture its eighth national championship, the second-highest total in history.

Eyanson (12-2) worked 6.1 innings and surrendered seven hits and three runs with one walk and nine strikeouts. Shores tossed 2.2 scoreless innings with one walk and four punchouts to record his second save.

CCU head coach Kevin Schnall and first base coach Matt Schilling were ejected in the bottom of the first by home plate umpire Angel Campos for arguing balls and strikes.

Dean Mihos belted a homer to left in the bottom of the second to give the Chanticleers (56-13) an early lead.

Ethan Frey delivered a run-scoring double in the third as the Tigers (53-15) tied it at 1-1.

Chris Stanfield and Derek Curiel both had two-run singles in the fourth as LSU took a 5-1 lead.

Wells Sykes belted a two-run homer off Eyanson in the seventh as CCU pulled within two at 5-3.

Frey went 3 for 5 with a double and one RBI for the Tigers.

Mihos was 3 for 4 with a homer, while Sebastian Alexander and Sykes both had two hits for the Chanticleers.
