In South Bend, Ind., VT scored six in the top of the ninth to rally past ND. Jack Hurley (3 for 4, 3 R, 3 RBI) homered twice, including in the eighth to pull the Hokies (3-4, 14-6) within one at 5-4. An RBI double by Tanner Schobel tied the game at 5-5 in the ninth before Cade Hunter’s single gave VT the lead. The final three runs in the frame scored on an error. Jack Brannigan and Brooks Coetzee both had two-run homers for the Irish (2-4, 12-5).
