Illinois State 3, No. 6 Arkansas 2 (box score)

In Fayetteville, Ark., Ryan Cermak went 3 for 4 with a run, and Kyle Soberano added two hits and a run as Illinois State slipped past Arkansas. Five Redbirds pitchers combined to allow four hits and strike out nine, with Jared Hart working two scoreless innings and three strikeouts to pick up the win.

In Stanford, Calif., five Stanford pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout, and the Cardinal (1-0) scored its only run on a first-inning error in squeaking past Cal State Fullerton. Cameron Repetti allowed two hits – Stanford’s only hits of the game – with no earned runs and three strikeouts for the Titans (0-1).

No. 8 Ole Miss 9, Charleston Southern 3 (box score)

In Oxford, Miss., Jacob Gonzalez and Reagan Burford each had two RBI, and Tim Elko homered and scored twice as Ole Miss beat Charleston Southern. TJ McCants added two hits, two runs and an RBI as the Rebels (1-0) scored in each of the first four innings in building an 8-2 lead. Hayden Harris drove in two for the Bucs (0-1).

Oregon State 21, New Mexico 1 (box score)

In Surprise, Ariz., Travis Bazzana went 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBI, and Mason Guerra added three RBI as Oregon State scored early and often, including 11 runs in the eighth, in battering New Mexico. Cooper Hjerpe allowed one earned run with four walks and eight strikeouts for the Beavers (1-0).

In Tallahassee, Fla., Parker Messick struck out 11 and allowed two hits and one earned run in 5.2 innings, and Florida State (1-0) got seven hits from seven different batters in a win over James Madison. Travis Reifsnider had two hits, including a solo homer, for the Dukes (0-1).

In Durham, N.C., Will Knight went 3 for 5 with two doubles and four RBI, and Zac Morris (3 for 4, 2 R, 2 RBI) and Trey Morgan (3 for 5, HR, 4 R, 2 RBI) each contributed big days as VMI doubled up Duke. Tyler Bradt worked six innings with one earned run and eight strikeouts for the Keydets (1-0). Alex Stone went 2 for 4 with a long home run to left and two RBI for the Blue Devils (0-1).

No. 19 Virginia 1, Bellarmine 0 (box score)

In Boiling Springs, N.C., three Virginia pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout, and Jack Gelof had an RBI double to score Chris Newell for the game’s only run as Virginia edged Bellarmine. Nolan Pender tossed six innings with five hits and a run for Bellarmine. Brandon Neeck (4.1 IP), Will Geerdes (3.2 IP) and Matt Wyatt combined for the shutout for the Cavaliers (1-0).
