Clemson 5, No. 4 North Carolina 4
In Clemson, S.C., Logan Davidson drilled a two-run homer with two away in the bottom of the ninth as Clemson swept its ACC series against UNC. The Tigers (3-0, 12-3) trailed 4-2 after seven. Grayson Byrd (2 for 4) had a leadoff single and scored with two outs on a passed ball to make it a one-run contest. After the Tar Heels (0-3, 12-4) went down in order in the top of the ninth, Clemson’s first two hitters were retired in the bottom of the frame. Sam Hall (2 for 4, 2 R) doubled to left center, setting the table for Davidson (2 for 4, 3 RBI). Caleb Roberts went 3 for 4 with two runs and one RBI for UNC.
No. 5 Stanford 9, No. 9 Texas 0
In Stanford, Calif., Erik Miller allowed one hit and fanned nine in 6.0 innings as Stanford won its series against UT. Miller (2-0) walked four and did not allow a run for the Cardinal (12-3). Andrew Daschbach drove in two in an eight-run fourth, with a run-scoring fielder’s choice and a bases-loaded walk. Caston Peter had the lone hit for the Longhorns (12-6), a two-out single in the second.
No. 1 Vanderbilt 9-3, Illinois State 1-7 (Game 1 box, Game 2 box)
In Nashville, Cooper Davis had two hits and two RBI, and Stephen Scott went 2 for 2 with three runs as Vanderbilt won the first game of a doubleheader with Illinois State. But the Redbirds (8-5) got two RBI apiece from Joe Aeilts (3 for 4, R), Derek Parola and Tyson Hays in beating the Commodores in the second game. Colton Johnson (2-0) tossed three innings with two hits, no earned runs and four strikeouts for Illinois State in the second game. In the first game, Patrick Raby threw five innings with four hits and one earned run, and Hugh Fisher closed with four scoreless innings with five strikeouts for Vandy (13-3).
No. 2 Oregon State 4, No. 16 Coastal Carolina 4
In Seattle, Oregon State and Coastal Carolina were tied after 11 innings, and the game was called because of the 3½-hour time limit for each game of the Seattle Baseball Showcase. The Beavers’ Philip Beau (2 for 4) and Chants’ Zach Biermann each drove in three runs, Biermann’s coming on a three-run double to spark a four-run fifth inning. Oregon State trailed 4-3 in the top of the ninth before Troy Claunch delivered an RBI single to send the game into extras.
In Los Angeles, Garrett Mitchell had two hits, two walks and two runs as UCLA edged USC in the final game of the Dodgertown Classic at Dodger Stadium. Mitchell scored the first run for the Bruins (11-3) in the third and touched home in the seventh to snap a 4-4 deadlock. Nate Hadley (3-0, 1 IP, H, BB, 2 K) earned the win in relief, while Holden Powell (1 IP, 3 H, R, 2 K) recorded his fourth save. Blake Sabol and Ben Ramirez both had two hits and two RBI for the Trojans (5-9).
In Gainesville, Fla., Jud Fabian belted a pair of homers as Florida swept its series against Yale. Fabian had solo shots in the second and fourth in helping the Gators (13-5) build a 4-1 lead. Jake Gehri had two home runs for the Bulldogs (3-7), a solo shot in the fourth and a two-run dinger in the sixth to make it a one-run contest. Tyler Dyson (2-0, 5.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) recorded the win, while Hunter Ruth (3.2 IP, H, 5K) notched his first save.
No. 7 Mississippi State 9, Maine 8
In Starkville, Miss., Justin Foscue homered and knocked in four as MSU completed its sweep of Maine. Foscue had an RBI groundout in the first to start the scoring for the Bulldogs (15-1). He had a three-run homer in the fifth to give MSU a 6-2 advantage. Dustin Skelton had two hits and two RBI for MSU. Hemen Sardinas had three hits and two RBI for the Black Bears (0-13).
No. 11 Texas Tech 15, Wichita State 4
In Lubbock, Texas, Cameron Warren went 3 for 3 with two runs and three RBI, and Gabe Holt and Dru Baker each added three RBI as Texas Tech completed a sweep of Wichita State. Mason Montgomery (2-0) worked five innings with one earned run and seven strikeouts for the Red Raiders (11-3). The Shockers fell to 5-9.
Boston College 6, No. 12 Louisville 4
In Louisville, Ky., Mason Pelio (2-0) was fantastic, tossing 7.2 innings with four hits, one unearned run and four strikeouts as Boston College avoided a sweep at the hands of Louisville. Cody Morissette went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Sal Frelick and Jake Alu each hit solo homers for the Eagles (1-2, 8-6). Drew Campbell drove in two for the Cardinals (2-1, 11-4), who scored three in the ninth to make things interesting.
In Oxford, Miss., Thomas Dillard hit a long homer, and Gunnar Hoglund led five Ole Miss pitchers with 3.1 innings as the Rebels completed a sweep of the Blazers. Austin Miller struck out three in 2.1 hitless innings, and Connor Green (3-0) got four outs on 11 pitches to post the win for Ole Miss (12-3). Colton Schultz hit a solo homer for UAB (9-7), which got five scoreless innings from Tanner Rusk.
No. 14 Arkansas 11, Louisiana Tech 0
In Fayetteville, Ark., Cody Scroggins fanned 11 in six scoreless innings as Arkansas clinched a series win over LT. Scroggins (1-0) allowed two hits and walked one. J Jack Kenley (2 for 3, 3 R) had an RBI single in the second, and Casey Martin followed with a three-run homer as the Razorbacks (12-2) built an early 4-0 lead. Jacob Nesbit had two hits and drove in a pair for Arkansas. Parker Bates went 1 for 3 with a walk for the Bulldogs (10-5).
No. 17 NC State 6, Pittsburgh 5
In Raleigh, N.C., Patrick Bailey had two hits and two RBI as NC State swept Pitt in ACC action. Bailey had a two-run double in the first to start the scoring for the Wolfpack (3-0, 15-0). Lawson McArthur also drove in two for NC State. His RBI single in the sixth snapped a 3-3 tie. He walked with the bases loaded to give the home team a 6-3 lead. David Yanni drove in four for the Panthers (0-3, 6-7) with a three-run homer in the sixth and an RBI double in the eighth.
Oklahoma State 3, No. 19 Michigan 2 (10 innings)
In Los Angeles, Christian Funk walked with the bases loaded in the top of the 10th as OSU edged UM at the Dodgertown Classic in Dodger Stadium. Ben Leeper struck out the side in the bottom of the 10th to earn his third save for the Cowboys (9-5) and preserve the win for Brady Basso (1-0, 1.1 IP, K). Jordan Nwogu (2 for 4) homered and knocked in two for the Wolverines (9-4).
No. 20 East Carolina 10, Marist 5
In Greenville, N.C., Bryant Packard went 2 for 3 with a homer, two walks, three runs and two RBI as ECU swept Marist. Packard had a two-run homer in the second for the Pirates (12-5). Brady Lloyd had two hits and two RBI, while Turner Brown had three hits and two runs for ECU. Brian Hart had three hits and three RBI for the Red Foxes (4-8).
