Mississippi State 12, No. 6 North Carolina 2
Jordan Westburg had three hits and knocked in seven as MSU thumped UNC to stay undefeated in CWS play. The Bulldogs (39-27) had base-runners in just two innings, but made the most of them. Westburg had a grand slam in the second as MSU took a 4-1 lead. Westburg had a three-run double to cap an eight-run eighth as the Bulldogs took a 12-2 lead. Konnor Pilkington (3-6, 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K) earned the victory, while Cole Gordon (3 IP, H, 2 K) picked up his fourth save. Ashton McGee went 2 for 2 with a triple and a run for the Tar Heels (44-19).
No. 1 Florida 6, No. 13 Texas 1 (UT eliminated)
Jackson Kowar fanned 13 in 6.2 scoreless innings as UF defeated UT in the second CWS elimination game. Kowar (10-5) scattered five hits and walked two. Jonathan India was the offensive star for the Gators (48-20). He had an RBI single in the top of the first to put UF ahead for good. His three-run homer capped a four-run sixth as the Gators took a 5-0 lead. Nick Horvath homered in the eighth to complete the scoring for UF. DJ Petrinsky had an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth as the Longhorns (42-23) avoided the shutout.
Game 8 between No. 5 Arkansas and No. 9 Texas Tech was postponed due to weather. It is scheduled to be played at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday morning.
