Scotty Sunitsch tossed a no-hitter for WSU in the Pac-12 series finale at Oregon. Sunitsch (3-1) allowed two walks and struck out nine over nine innings. He needed just 95 pitches to record the gem. It was the 25th no-hitter in program history and the first solo nine-inning no-hitter since Eric Wilkins against Oregon State in 1976. Sunitsch pitched the ninth inning of a combined no-hitter a year ago against Stephen F. Austin. Robert Teel doubled and knocked in three for the Cougars (4-8, 9-17). Daniel Patzlaff and Spencer Steer drew walks for the Ducks (5-7, 18-12).
No. 1 Florida 6-4, Tennessee 4-6 (Game 1 – 11 innings)
In Knoxville, Tenn., JJ Schwarz had a sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th to snap a 4-4 tie in the opener as UF and UT split an SEC doubleheader, giving the Gators the series victory. Deacon Liput went 3 for 6 with a double, two runs and one RBI for UF (9-3, 28-6). Jordan Butler (3-1, 3 IP, H, BB, 4 K) earned the victory. Justin Ammons went 4 for 6 with two RBI for the Volunteers (6-7, 19-14). In the nightcap, Pete Derkay had a three-run double to highlight a six-run third for UT. Will Neely (4-1, 7 IP, 10 H, 4 R, BB, 5 K) earned the complete-game victory. Liput was 3 for 4 with a homer and two runs for the Gators.
No. 17 UCLA 7, No. 2 Stanford 2
In Los Angeles, Jack Stronach and Garrett Mitchell had two-run singles in a five-run third as UCLA won its Pac-12 series against Stanford. Mitchell finished with two hits and three RBI for the Bruins (8-4. 19-8). Ryan Garcia (3-0, BB, 7 K) tossed 4.2 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win. Andrew Daschbach had a two-run homer in the first for the Cardinal (6-3, 23-5)
Mississippi State 7, No. 3 Ole Miss 5 (11)
In Starkville, Miss., Luke Alexander smacked a two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th as MSU won its SEC series vs. Ole Miss. Jake Mangum went 5 for 5 with four runs and one RBI for the Bulldogs (4-8, 17-16). Tyler Keenan (2 for 4, 2 RBI) went deep for the Rebels (7-5, 27-6).
Arizona 6, No. 4 Oregon State 5
In Tucson, Ariz., Alfonso Rivas delivered a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth as UA won its Pac-12 series against OSU. The Wildcats (4-5, 19-11) scored three in the eighth to tie the game at 5-5. Nick Quintana had two hits, including a homer, and knocked in three for UA. Andy Armstrong had two doubles and scored twice for the Beavers (7-5, 24-6).
Georgia Tech 16, No. 5 Florida State 3
In Atlanta, Kyle McCann went 3 for 4 with two doubles, three runs and three RBI as GT earned an ACC series win over FSU. The Yellow Jackets (8-7, 19-13) used a seven-run fifth to expand a 2-1 lead. Mike Salvatore (3 for 4, 2 R) had a pair of doubles for the Seminoles (8-7, 24-9).
No. 6 NC State 10, No. 20 Louisville 3
In Louisville, Ky., Brett Kinneman homered, scored three and knocked in four as NC State won the rubber game of its ACC series at UL. Stephen Pitarra (1 for 3, 2 BB) also had three runs for the Wolfpack (11-4, 25-6). Ben Bianco had an RBI double and scored for the Cardinals (6-9, 20-11).
No. 9 Arkansas 5, No. 18 Auburn 4
In Fayetteville, Ark., Carson Shaddy drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the ninth and scored on a base hit by Heston Kjerstad as Arkansas completed the SEC series sweep of Auburn. Eric Cole went 2 for 4 with a double, one run and two RBI for the Razorbacks (8-4, 24-9). Jake Reindl (2-1, 7 IP, H, R, 2 BB, 9 K) earned the win in relief. Edouard Julien doubled and drove in a pair for the Tigers (4-8, 23-10).
