Fresno State favorite in WAC
Two-time
defending champion Fresno State is the preseason favorite to
capture the 2008 Western Athletic Conference title in voting by
the league’s head coaches, as released by the WAC.
The Bulldogs received six
of the seven first-place votes. Louisiana Tech nabbed the other
first-place vote and placed second. Nevada came in third and
Hawaii was voted fourth in the preseason poll.
The 46th season
of WAC baseball begins on Friday, Feb. 22, with all seven teams
in action. The 2008 WAC Tournament will be held in Ruston, La.,
for the first time at Louisiana Tech’s J.C. Love Field, May
22-25. The top six teams in the regular-season standings qualify
for the tournament.
