Ryan Shetter allowed one run in 4.1 innings of relief, and Gabe Holt had two hits and three RBI, as TTU knocked off defending national champion UF in Game 4 of the 2018 CWS. Shetter (6-0) gave up three hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Ryan Harpenau worked the final 2.2 innings with one hit, one run, two walks and three strikeouts to preserve the win for the Red Raiders (45-18). Deacon Liput walked and scored on a balk in the bottom of the third as the Gators (47-20) took the early lead. Josh Jung (2 for 5) singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Grant Little (3 for 3, 2B, R) as TTU tied it in the fourth. Holt’s two-run single with two away in the fifth gave the Raiders a 3-1 edge. Zach Rheams had an RBI double and scored on a base hit by Michael Davis in the sixth as the TTU advantage grew to 5-1. Nelson Maldonado (2 for 5) mashed a two-run homer in the seventh as UF made it 5-3. Holt gave the Raiders an insurance run in the ninth with a run-scoring single to make the final 6-3. Cody Farhat finished with two hits and two runs for TTU. Brady Singer (12-2, 6.1 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 5 K) suffered the loss.

No. 5 Arkansas 11, No. 13 Texas 5

Luke Bonfield had a two-run homer in the fifth to put Arkansas ahead to stay, while Heston Kjerstad and Dominic Fletcher delivered two-run singles in an eight-run sixth, as Arkansas downed Texas in Game 3 of the CWS. The Razorbacks (45-19) set a program record for runs scored in a CWS contest. After Kjerstad (3 for 5, 2 R) had an RBI single in the bottom of the first, the Longhorns (42-22) tallied single runs in the third and fifth to take a 2-1 advantage. Bonfield belted a two-run homer with two away in the bottom of the fifth to put the Razorbacks up 3-2. Arkansas scored twice and had the bases loaded with no outs in the sixth when the game was delayed by weather for 2:49. Following the delay, Casey Martin (2 for 4) had a run-scoring single and Kjerstad knocked in two with a base hit to make it 8-2. Bonfield was plunked before Fletcher’s two-run single. Carson Shaddy (2 for 5) ended the rally with an RBI single to make it 11-2. Austin Todd had a two-run single in the eighth and Zach Zubia (2 for 5) added an RBI double in the ninth for UT to make the final 11-5. Tate Shaw went 3 for 3 with a run for the Longhorns. Blaine Knight (13-0) earned the win, going 5.0 innings with four hits, two runs, one walk and four strikeouts.
