Massachusetts head coach Mike Stone will retire following the 2017 season. It will be his 30th year with the Minutemen. Stone has posted an overall record of 682-663-3 (.507) and 350-291-2 (.546) in Atlantic 10 contests. UMass has won eight A-10 regular-season crowns, two A-10 tournament titles and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.

Jeff Mercer has been promoted to head coach at his alma mater, Wright State. He is the first former WSU player to lead the program. Mercer was a two-time All-Horizon League selection for the Raiders in 2008 and 2009. He has been an assistant coach at WSU for the past three seasons. The Raiders set a school record with 43 wins in 2015 and broke that this past season with 46 victories. WSU has reached NCAA Regional Finals in each of the past two years.

Greg Lovelady resigned at Wright State to become head coach at UCF. He posted a record of 124-56 in three seasons and was named Horizon League Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2016. The Raiders played in NCAA Regional Finals in each of the past two seasons. Lovelady was an assistant at WSU from 2005-13. Lovelady is a native of Miami and helped the Miami Hurricanes win a pair of national championships.

Brett Harker was hired as head coach at Furman. Harker was pitching coach for the Paladins the past two seasons and was also recruiting coordinator this past year. Harker was also an assistant at Newberry College and North Greenville University.

Reggie Christiansen has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Sacramento State through the 2021 season. Christiansen has led the program for six years and the Hornets have posted at least 30 victories in each of the past five seasons.

Terry Rooney resigned as head coach at UCF and was named associate head coach at Alabama. Rooney will serve as head coach Greg Goff’s pitching coach and will assist with recruiting. He was head coach of the Knights from 2008-16 after serving as an assistant at LSU, Notre Dame, Stetson, Old Dominion, James Madison and George Washington.

Jamie Pinzino, former head coach at William & Mary and Bryant, has been hired as associate head coach at Virginia Tech. For the past three seasons, Pinzino was pitching coach at Oklahoma under former Hokie head coach Pete Hughes. Pinzino posted a 212-174 record as a collegiate head coach.

Associate head coach Bill Mosiello and assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Kirk Saarloos have signed contract extensions at TCU. The pair have helped head coach Jim Schlossnagle lead the Horned Frogs to three straight trips to the College World Series.
