Travis Jewett, the former associate coach at Vanderbilt, has been named head coach at Tulane. He worked with the Commodores for the past four seasons after stops as an assistant at Arizona State (2010-12), Washington State (2005-09), Washington (2002-04) and Gonzaga (1999-01) He was also head coach at Edmonds (WA) CC (1997-98) and Tacoma (WA) CC (1995-96). Jewett helped Vanderbilt win the national championship in 2014. Jewett played two seasons at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Wash., before earning a degree from Washington State in 1993.

Kevin Mulvey was promoted to head coach at Villanova after serving as an assistant for the Wildcats for the past four seasons. Mulvey pitched for VU for three seasons. He struck out 222, the most strikeouts over a three-year span in program history. Mulvey was picked by the New York Mets in the second round of the 2006 MLB Draft. He pitched professionally for seven seasons, hurling for the Minnesota Twins and Arizona Diamondbacks in the major leagues.

Kermit Smith has been selected as head coach at Appalachian State. For the past seven seasons, he posted a record of 244-134 (.645) at Lander University. Smith led the Bearcats to four Peach Belt Conference tournaments and three NCAA tourneys over the past five years. Lander reached the NCAA Division II College World Series twice in the past three seasons. Smith was named ABCA/Diamond Southeast Regional Coach of the Year after the Bearcats went 44-16, finished No. 3 in the Collegiate Baseball poll, the highest finish in program history. Prior to his time at Lander, Smith spent eight years as head coach at Belmont-Abbey.

Clemson head coach Monte Lee as well as assistants Bradley LeCroy and Andrew See, received extended contracts and salary increases. The Tigers had 44 wins in 2016, won their first ACC championship  and NCAA national seed in a decade, and first home regional since 2011.
