#3 Florida advances to College World Series

Tyler Dyson tossed five scoreless innings of relief with seven strikeouts as UF blanked WFU to clinch the final spot in the College World Series. Dyson allowed two hits and did not walk a batter. Brady Singer started Game 3 for the Gators (47-18) and gave up one hit with three strikeouts in two innings before play was suspended due to rain. When play resumed, Dyson took over and dominated for five frames. Alex Faedo worked the final two innings with one hit, one walk and three strikeouts to record the save. Jonathan India (2 for 4) had a leadoff double in the second and scored on a base hit by Mike Rivera to give the Gators the early lead. JJ Schwarz (2 for 4) blasted a long two-run homer in the second as the UF lead grew to 3-0. Dalton Guthrie went 3 for 4 with a run for the Gators. Gavin Sheets went 1 for 4 with a double for the Demon Deacons (43-19).

In the completion of Sunday’s suspended Game 2, Ben Breazeale belted a two-run homer over the video board in right center in the bottom of the 11th to give WFU the victory. It was the second dinger of the game for Breazeale (2 for 6, 3 RBI), as his solo shot followed a three-run homer by Gavin Sheets (2 for 6, 2 R, 3 RBI) in the first as the Demon Deacons took a quick 4-0 lead. Johnny Aiello added a pair of solo home runs for WFU. JJ Schwarz and Deacon Liput (2 for 5, 3 RBI) both went deep for the Gators.
