Drew Gilbert hit a one-out, game-winning grand slam into the Knoxville night to stun Wright State as Tennessee rallied for an epic win Friday night on the first day of the NCAA Regionals. The Volunteers trailed 8-5 with three outs to go, but got singles from Connor Pavolony and Max Ferguson before Jake Rucker walked to load the bases. Gilbert, who entered with six homers, hammered a breaking ball over the wall to send a packed house at Lindsey Nelson Stadium into jubilation. The Volunteers (4-16), who got three hits and two RBI from Pavolony and two hits and two RBI from Luc Lipcius, built a 5-2 lead after three innings. But the Raiders (35-12), the nation’s leader in runs per game, scored in four of the final six innings to take a three-run lead to the ninth. Tyler Black went 4 for 5 with two homers, two runs and three RBI, and Quincy Hamilton (1 for 3, 2 R, 3 RBI) and Alex Alders (2 for 4, 2 R, 2 RBI) also homered for Wright State.

Brady Gulakowski belted a pair of three-run homers as Liberty powered past Duke. The Flames (40-14) put up crooked numbers in three of the first four innings in building an 11-1 lead. Gulakowski had long balls in the third and fourth innings. Trevor Delaite (12-1, 7.2 IP, 8 H, 4 R, BB, 5 K) earned the win. Peter Matt (4 for 5, 3 RBI) went deep twice for the Blue Devils (32-21).

Gainesville Regional

Carmine Lane (1 for 5, 2 R) and Riley Hogan (2 for 3, 2 RBI) both homered as USF knocked off UF. Dylan Burns (5-5) threw three innings of one-hit relief with three strikeouts to earn the win for the Bulls (29-27). Orion Kerkering fanned two in a scoreless ninth to record his fifth save. Nathan Hickey had two hits and two RBI, while Kris Armstrong (2 for 4) went deep for the Gators (38-21).

Alejandro Rosario tossed 6.1 scoreless innings with five strikeouts and got help from Daniel Federman (.2 IP) and Carson Palmquist (2 IP) as Miami blanked South Alabama. Adrian Del Castillo drove in the game’s lone run with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to score Dominic Pitelli in the fifth inning as the Hurricanes improved to 33-19. Tyler Lehrmann (4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER) and Jackson Boyd (4 IP, 0 H, 4 K) were tough on the mound for the Jaguars (33-21).

Fort Worth Regional

Cole Moore (2 for 4, 2 R, 2 RBI) and Andrew Benefield (1 for 4, 2 RBI) both homered as DBU edged OSU. Jackson Glenn doubled twice with one run and one RBI for the Patriots (38-15), who led 6-1 in the fifth. Ryan Ober had a solo homer in the fifth and Greg Fuchs added a three-run shot in the sixth for the Beavers (34-23).

Austin Krob fanned 13 in 8.0 innings as TCU rallied past McNeese. Krob (8-1) allowed seven hits, two walks and four runs. The Horned Frogs (41-17) trailed 2-1 after six before exploding for six in the seventh and five in the eighth. Brayden Taylor reached five times, going 2 for 2 with a homer, three walks and three runs. Jake Dickerson went 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI for the Cowboys (32-29).

Fayetteville Regional

Wallace also finished with three RBI, and Jaylen Battles hit a solo homer and scored four times as the Razorbacks (47-10) started slow but finished with 13 hits. Kevin Kopps entered far earlier than anyone would have expected and tossed 2.1 innings with no hits and no runs in the middle innings to improve to 11-0. Daniel Helfgott went 3 for 3 with a run and an RBI, and Matt Cocciadifferr went 2 for 5 with a double, RBI and three runs for NJIT (26-23).

Cam Chick hit a three-run homer as Nebraska scored seven times over four straight innings to erase a 4-0 deficit and knock off Northeastern. Joe Acker contributed two hits and an RBI, and Mojo Hagge went 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI for the Cornhuskers (32-12). Max Viera went 3 for 5 with a run, and Jared Dupere and Ian Fair added two RBI apiece for the Huskies (36-11).

Columbia Regional

USC erased a 3-1 deficit with three in the sixth to edge UVA. Julian Bosnic (4-2, 3.2 IP, 3 H, R, 2 BB, 2 K) picked up the win, while Daniel Lloyd tossed three scoreless innings with one hit and four strikeouts to notch his second save. Wes Clarke (2 for 4, 2 R) homered and doubled for the Gamecocks (34-21), while Josiah Sightler had a two-run double in the sixth.  Brothers Zack (3 for 5, 2 RBI) and Jake Gelof (1 for 3, 2 R) went deep for the Cavaliers (29-24).

Three relievers combined to work eight scoreless innings as ODU edged JU. Jacob Gomez (6-1) gave up one hit and one walk in 4.2 innings with two strikeouts to record the win. Jason Hartline worked 2.2 innings with one hit, one walk and three punchouts. Noah Dean got the final two outs for his ninth save. After falling behind 3-0 in the top of the first, Kenny Levari had a two-run homer in the bottom of the first and Kyle Battle delivered a two-run double in the second for the Monarchs (43-14). Tyler Santana (5-8, 8 IP, 5 H, 4 R, BB, 9 K) went the distance for the Dolphins (16-33).

South Bend Regional

John Michael Bertrand tossed a five-hit shutout as ND blanked CMU. Bertrand (8-2) walked one and struck out six. Niko Kavadas homered twice and drove in four, while Ryan Cole added a double and a homer with three RBI for the Irish (31-11). Mario Camiletti had two hits for the Chippewas (40-17).

Erik Stock went 4 for 4 with a double, a run and three RBI, and Chris Brown added two hits and two runs as Connecticut clipped Michigan. Austin Peterson worked 5.2 innings with two hits, one earned run and seven strikeouts for the Huskies (34-17), who broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the sixth and added two more in the seventh. Brown had a two-run single in the sixth, and Stock added a two-run double in the seventh for Connecticut. Ted Burton hit a solo homer for the Wolverines (27-18).

Greenville Regional

Thomas Francisco hit a three-run homer as part of a four-run sixth inning as East Carolina fought off pesky Norfolk State. The Spartans, who got two hits and two runs from Ty Hanchey, scored twice in the fourth inning for a 3-2 lead. After the Pirates tied it in the fifth, the Spartans added a run in the top of the sixth to take a 4-3 lead, but Francisco’s three run homer gave ECU a 6-4 lead. Norfolk State scored a run in the ninth and had the bases loaded in the ninth inning, but Matt Bridges entered to get the final out. Josh Moylan had two hits and an RBI, and Connor Norby scored twice for ECU (42-15). Mason Velasquez went 2 for 4 with a run, and Jacob Council went 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI for Norfolk State (25-27).

David McCabe homered twice and scored three, while Jack Dragum went 4 for 4 with a homer, two runs and two RBI as Charlotte outscored Maryland. Will Butcher was a triple short of the cycle with two runs and three RBI for the 49ers (40-19). Maxwell Costes (2 for 4, HR, 2 BB, 3 R) and Tommy Gardiner (2 for 5) both drove in three for the Terrapins (28-17).

Nashville Regional

Andrew Jenkins went 2 for 3 with a homer, two runs and two RBI, and Stephen Reid went 3 for 4 with an RBI, a single as part of a five-run seventh inning, as Georgia Tech rallied to beat Indiana State. Grant Magill went 2 for 4 with four RBI, including a run-scoring walk as the Sycamores (30-20) scored twice in the top of the seventh to take a 6-2 lead. But the Yellow Jackets (30-23) put up five in the bottom half to take a one-run lead. Luke Bartnicki tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts to secure the win for Tech.

Kumar Rocker was dominant over seven innings as Vandy blanked Presbyterian. Rocker (12-3) allowed two hits, walked two and struck out nine. Dominic Keegan went 3 for 4 with two home runs, three runs and five RBI, while Troy LaNeve had two hits and knocked in four for the Commodores (41-15). Eric Toth went 1 for 2 with a double and a walk for the Blue Hose (22-22).

Lubbock Regional
#1 Texas Tech 6, #4 Army 3 (box score)

Cal Conley went 2 for 3 with two homers and three RBI, and Chase Hampton yielded two runs (one earned) with seven strikeouts in six strong innings as Texas Tech topped Army. Conley hit a two-run homer to give the Red Raiders (37-15) a 3-2 lead in the third inning, and Braxton Fulford added a two-run shot in the fourth to make it 5-2. Jeremiah Adams went 2 for 3 with a solo homer for the Black Knights (28-24).

Will Stewart had two hits and three RBI, and Danny Serretti hit a late two-run homer as North Carolina slipped past UCLA. Austin Love yielded three earned runs and struck out nine in 6.2 innings for the Tar Heels (28-15), who led 3-2 before Serretti’s homer in the seventh. Brett Centracchio added three hits and two runs for UNC. Matt McLain had two hits and two RBI, and Kevin Kendall added three hits, two runs and an RBI for the Bruins (35-19).

Ruston Regional

Reid Johnston was masterful, allowing one earned run and striking out seven over eight innings, and Devonte Brown hit two solo homers as NC State coasted past Alabama. Jose Torres went 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBI, a three-run shot that made it 7-1 in the fifth, and Tyler McDonough added a two-run homer and Luca Tresh a solo shot for the Wolfpack (31-17). Jackson Tate hit a solo homer for the Crimson Tide (31-25).

Hunter Wells went 4 for 5 with two homers, four runs and nine RBI, and Taylor Young had two hits and five runs as Louisiana Tech throttled Rider. Jonathan Fincher tossed eight innings with two earned runs and four strikeouts as the Bulldogs (41-18) built a 9-0 lead after five and scored nine more in the eighth inning. Jake Barbiere and Sean McGeehan each had two hits and a run for the Broncs (23-17).

Austin Regional

Tristan Stevens allowed four hits and struck out six in seven scoreless innings, and Mitchell Daly drove in three runs as Texas eased by Southern. Zach Zubia went 3 for 4 with two RBI, and Cam Williams contributed two hits, two runs and two RBI and Silas Ardoin two hits and two RBI for the Longhorns (43-15). O’Neill Burgos had two of the four hits for the Jaguars (20-29).

Sean McLain went 2 for 4 with two RBI, including the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the ninth, as Arizona State rallied to beat Fairfield. McLain doubled in a run in the bottom of the eighth, and after Blake Pivaroff was hit by a pitch to plate the game-tying run in the ninth, McLain singled with the bases loaded to lift the Sun Devils (33-20) to the win. Justin Guerrera went 4 for 5 with three runs, and Mike Handal went 2 for 5 with a solo homer and two runs for the Stags (37-4), who rallied from a 4-1 deficit to take a 6-4 lead.

Oxford Regional
#3 Florida State 5, #2 Southern Miss 2 (box score)
#1 Ole Miss 6, #4 Southeast Missouri 3 (box score)

Logan Lacey and Matheu Nelson each ripped two-run homers, and Parker Messick allowed two unearned runs over six innings as Florida State upended Southern Miss. Elijah Cabell added a solo homer after Lacey’s two-run shot as the Seminoles (31-22) scored three times in the sixth inning for a 3-2 lead. Nelson’s homer gave FSU some breathing room. Hunter Stanley allowed three runs, one earned, in six innings for the Golden Eagles (37-20).

Tim Elko continued his magical story since returning from a torn ACL by hitting a third-inning grand slam to help Ole Miss to a win over Southeast Missouri. After Derek Diamond turned in 4.1 innings with one unearned run, Jack Dougherty allowed one earned run in three innings to pick up the win for the Rebels (42-19). Taylor Broadway closed for his 14th save. Andrew Keck went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI for SEMO (30-21).

Starkville Regional

Luke Hancock had three hits and three RBI, and Rowdey Jordan contributed three hits and three runs as Mississippi State knocked off Samford. Will Bednar turned in seven innings with six hits and three runs (two earned) with eight strikeouts for the Bulldogs (41-15). Hancock had a two-run single as part of a three-run second inning for MSU. He later added an RBI single as part of a two-run seventh inning to make it 8-3. Max Pinto homered and drove in two for the Bulldogs (35-23).

Hogan Brown homered and knocked in six, while Hunter Vay went 3 for 5 with two homers, four runs and four RBI as VCU clobbered Campbell to extend its win streak to 22 games. The Rams (38-14) erased an early 1-0 deficit with seven in the second, sparked by a two-run homer from Vay and a two-run single by Brown. Collin Wolf went 2 for 5 with a double and one RBI for the Camels (35-17).

Tucson Regional
#3 UCSB 14, #2 Oklahoma State 4 (box score)

Marcus Castanon went 5 for 6 with a homer, three runs and five RBI, and Zach Rodriguez added three RBI as UCSB pounded out 18 hits in an impressive win over Oklahoma State. The Gauchos (40-18) scored in six of nine innings, with McClain O’Connor (3 for 3, 2 R, 2 RBI), Cole Cummings (3 for 4, 3 R) and Jordan Sprinkle (3 for 6, 2 R, RBI) each contributed three hits. Rodney Boone struck out 11 and allowed three earned runs in 7.1 innings for UCSB. Jake Thompson went 2 for 3 with a solo homer and two runs for the Cowboys (35-18-1).

Tony Bullard was a double short of the cycle and knocked in three as Arizona doubled up GCU. Tanner O’Tremba went 3 for 4 with a double, a homer, two runs and two RBI for the Wildcats (41-15), who trailed 4-0 in the second. Jonny Weaver had two doubles, one run and one RBI for the Lopes (39-20-1).

Stanford Regional

Tim Tawa (2 for 4, 3 R, 4 RBI) homered twice and Alex Williams fanned nine in 7.0 innings as Stanford defeated NDSU. Tawa had a solo shot in the fourth to snap a 1-1 tie and added a three-run blast in the seventh. Kody Huff and Tommy Troy also went deep for the Cardinal (34-14). Williams (3-2) allowed three hits, two walks and one run. Bennett Hostetler homered for the Bison (41-18).

Michael Frias tossed a two-hit shutout as UCI blanked Nevada. Frias (9-1) walked a pair and struck out five. He also hit Dillan Shrum three times.  Nathan Church had two doubles, one run and one RBI for the Anteaters (41-16). Dario Gomez and Landon Wallace both had hits for the Wolf Pack (25-19).

Eugene Regional

Anthony Hall homered twice and drove in six as Oregon outscored CCSU. The Ducks (38-14) scored in each of the first six innings, including multiple runs in five of those six. Kenyon Yovan (2 for 5, 3 RBI) also went deep twice for the victors. Jay Devito and Hunter Pasqualini each had three hits, two runs and two RBI for the Blue Devils (28-14).

Alek Jacob pitched a four-hit shutout as Gonzaga edged LSU. Jacob (8-1) walked one and struck out nine. Guthrie Morrison (2 for 4) had an RBI single and scored on a double by Ernie Yake (2 for 3, 2 BB) in the second for the Bulldogs (34-17). Brett Harris (2 for 4) added a run-scoring single in the sixth. Dylan Crews had a triple for the Tigers (34-23).
