In Gainesville, Fla., Tristan Pompey belted a grand slam in the fourth as UK thumped UF to kick off their SEC series. The Wildcats (19-9, 38-16) had 20 hits, matching their highest conference total of the season. The Gators (19-9, 38-15) led 3-0 after two before Pompey’s blast put UK on top for good. Riley Mahan (3 for 5, 2B, 3 R) also went deep for the Wildcats. Jonathan India went 3 for 5 with two RBI for UF.

Florida State 12, No. 2 Louisville 9

In Louisville, Ky., Quincy Nieporte had three doubles and five RBI as FSU outscored UL to begin their ACC series. Dylan Busby (4 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI) and Cal Raleigh (2 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI) both homered for the Seminoles (13-14, 34-20). Jim Voyles (4-0, 1.2 IP, H, BB, K) picked up the win, while Drew Carlton (3 IP, 4 H, R, 2 K) recorded his fifth save. Drew Ellis and Josh Stowers (2 for 5) both homered and drove in three for the Cardinals (23-5, 46-8).

Duke 8, No. 3 North Carolina 4

In Chapel Hill, N.C., Zack Kone and Max Miller both drove in a pair as Duke topped UNC in ACC action. Kevin Lewallyn (1-0) tossed 2.2 hitless innings in relief to earn the win, while Nick Hendrix (2 IP, H, 2 K) notched his first save for the Blue Devils (12-16, 28-25). Brandon Riley went 1 for 4 with one run and one RBI for the Tar Heels (21-7, 42-11), who were held to a season-low three hits.

No. 4 Texas Tech 10, Kansas 6

In Lubbock, Texas, Tanner Gardner had went deep twice, including a two-run homer in a four-run sixth to put TTU ahead for good, in a Big 12 win over KU. Hunter Hargrove had two hits and two RBI for the Red Raiders (14-8, 40-13). Tanner Gragg had three hits and three RBI for the Jayhawks (11-11, 29-24).

In Berkeley, Calif., Durbin Feltman pitched a perfect ninth with one strikeout for the 13th save as TCU blanked Cal. Jared Janczak (3 IP, 4 K) earned the victory as four hurlers combined on the three-hit shutout. Evan Skoug (2 for 4) smacked his 16th homer of the season for the Horned Frogs (38-13). Jeffrey Mitchell, Jr., Cameron Eden and Matt Ruff each had a hit for the Golden Bears (22-27).

No. 8 LSU 3, No. 11 Mississippi State 1

In Starkville, Miss., Alex Lange allowed one run over seven innings as LSU won the SEC series opener at MSU. Lange (7-5) scattered six hits with five walks and 11 strikeouts. Hunter Newman walked one and fanned one in a hitless ninth for his ninth save. Zach Watson drove in two for the Tigers (19-9, 37-17). Ryan Gridley (2 for 5) homered in the first for the Bulldogs (17-11, 34-20).
