In Gainesville, Fla., Alex Faedo was one out away from a three-hit shutout as Florida edged South Carolina to kick off their SEC series. Faedo (6-1) went 8.2 innings with four walks and nine strikeouts. Michael Byrne recorded the final out to earn his seventh save for the Gators (9-7, 26-12). Keenan Bell (2 for 3) had an RBI single in the fifth for the game’s lone run. Madison Stokes went 1 for 2 with a double and a walk for the Gamecocks (8-8, 23-14).

Utah 12, No. 7 Arizona 5

In Tucson, Ariz., DaShawn Keirsey Jr. went 4 for 6 with a double, two runs and two RBI as Utah won the Pac-12 series opener at Arizona. The Utes (6-10, 15-17) scored in every innings except the first and ninth. Ellis Kelly went 2 for 4 with three RBI for Utah. Jayson Rose (5-2, 5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K) earned the win, while Jacob Rebar (4.0 IP, 3 H, R, BB, 4 K) recorded his first save. Cal Stevenson (2 for 5) and Alfonso Rivas both homered for the Wildcats (9-7, 26-10).

In Starkville, Miss., Tanner Poole went 3 for 4 with a double and one RBI as MSU edged Bama. The Bulldogs (26-14) snapped a 3-3 tie with three in the fifth. Konnor Pilkington (4-3, 5.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 5 K) picked up the win, while Spencer Price (0.2 IP, 2 H, K) registered his 14th save.
