Arizona State retains top spot in CBI Composite Poll

Top five places remain the same; Rice climbs to No. 6

By sitting on top of three of the four national polls, Arizona State is No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

The Sun Devils won their four games this past week in the Coca-Cola Classic to raise their record to 7-0. They defeated nationally-ranked Michigan twice, and Hawaii and Portland once each. ASU is first in the Collegiate Baseball poll, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll and the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll. The Sun Devils are fourth in the Baseball America poll.

Fellow Pac-10 member Arizona (5-1) holds the top spot in the Baseball America poll after sweeping a three-game set against Sacramento State. The Wildcats stay at No. 2 in the CBI Composite Poll. Why a composite poll? CBI felt that four national polls was enough. Plus, each week you find discrepancies that make it tough to gauge where a team really is. This week's example: UCLA is No. 3 in one poll and No. 15 in another.
